Bhutan Board Products Ltd (BBPL) is a Royal Government of Bhutan undertaking incorporated under the Companies Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, set up in 1982 is one of the biggest manufacturing industries in the Country providing employment opportunities to as many as 450 individuals. Today, BBPL is a separate entity with its own set of Service Rules, and with a mandate to maintain the pristine environment of the Country. Its stakeholders comprise of Royal Government of Bhutan, financial institutions and private companies and individuals.

The responsibility to manage the affairs of the Company is vested with the Board of Directors. The Board has representation from the Royal Government, Corporate bodies and private sector. However, the day to day affairs of the Company is managed by the Company’s Chief Executive Officer.

BBPL has a particleboard manufacturing plant at Darla, which is about 56 Kms on the highway to Thimphu, and a furniture manufacturing unit at Pasakha, which is about 15 Kms from Phuentsholing. The two primary finished products - Particleboards and Furniture- are marketed mostly in India (about 85%) and the balance 15% in the local market of Bhutan.

Bhutan Board Exports Limited (BBEL)a fully owned subsidiary Company of BBPL is entrusted with the responsibility of solely distributing and marketing BBPL’s two prime products  outside Bhutan within the provisions of Memorandum of Understanding signed between the holding and subsidiary Company.

BBPL’s Particle Board Factory :

The Particleboard Factory is situated at Darla, about 56 Kms on the highway to Thimphu. TheParticleboard Plant is equipped with sophisticated machineries imported from SIEMPELKAMP, Germany. The Plant consumes raw wood extracted  from forest land leased to the Company as the primary raw material to produce medium density (graded) plain particleboards and pre-laminated particleboards conforming to German DIN and Indian BIS standards. The particleboard is a environmentally sound alternative to  timber , steel, aluminum, and other environmentally hazardous   products. 

BBPL’s Furniture Factory : 

BBPL’s Furniture Unit is located  at Balujhora, Pasakha about 15 Kms away from Phuentsholing. The Unit produces two ranges of furniture prefabricated from particleboards- Home and Office range with knockdown features and hardware imported from Malaysia and Singapore. The furniture is designed on machinery and equipments from COIMAL, Italy, who bring typical Italian flair, style and perfection to each piece of furniture. 

The furniture comes in flat, space saving corrugated boxes which can be transported conveniently and assembled easily into single units of exquisite furniture, eliminating the  damage risk during transit, The Company currently produces and markets over 70 different furniture type with  monthly production of over 1,500 units furniture.
